This is our first mini product review at theUsualGamer.NET. Mini-reviews are reviews that are short and to the point. Basically, does a product do what it’’’s supposed to do, is it worth the money, would we buy it again and would we recommend it to a family member or friend? That’’’s all a mini-review is.

The Logitech Harmony 880 is a remote control that’’’s designed to replace all of the IR remotes on your coffee table. The remote is expensive with an MSRP of $249.99 but can be found on the internet for under $150. The remote control has a micro-USB port so it can be hooked up to your computer. Once it is connected to your PC, you connect to the Logitech Harmony site to configure the remote for your devices. The website is well designed and easy to use. However, you might have to go through this process a few times in order to get your remote setup like you want. However, after the remote is setup properly, it becomes a little bundle of joy.

Do you want to play your Xbox 360? If so, press activities and then the button that says “Xbox 360.” From there, all your equipment will turn to their correct settings including your tuner, television and your Xbox will turn on. If your remote was not pointed in the correct direction and your television did not go to the correct input then you can click the help button. The remote will then ask you questions to help you fix the problem step by step. It has a very slick user interface for a hand held remote control.

The only downside to the remote is the price and the fact it uses a proprietary battery with a docking station. I would have rather have it use a couple of AA batteries as the current replacement batteries can be expensive.

In the end, the Logitech Harmony 880 is a fantastic remote control. I would not hesitate to buy another one and I would recommend it to anyone with an entertainment center overflowing with infrared remotes.
